All Things Crypto: @thriveprotocol literally has money for you!!

AIAirdrops / TGEsBTCDeFiETFsETHEquitiesGeopolitics

The show opened with an energetic and humorous return of the virtual assistant Junie after Dave's MacBook was hacked, setting a lively tone for the episode. The panel discussed current market conditions with Bitcoin attempting to break key resistance levels around 89k while dominance remained high at 67 percent, alongside various crypto news including the ZK Sync lawsuit, Initial's successful TGE and airdrop, Paul Atkins being sworn in as SEC chairman, and Symbiotic Finance raising 29 million. The majority of the space was dedicated to an in-depth conversation with Matthew Carano from Thrive Protocol, who detailed how the project partners with major ecosystems such as ApeCoin, Polygon, and Hedera to deploy treasury capital into builders through a transparent, milestone-based system validated by a decentralized guardian reviewer network. Thrive emphasizes verifiable on-chain impact and makes funding accessible without pitch decks or equity dilution. All of this is discussion, not financial advice.

[0:03:11] Dave @DCBK2LA: We got music back. The MacBook said I will not die today, and I love it. Absolutely. Met a beast in the business. Let's go. Guys, I somehow miraculously got some sound back, on my MacBook. I don't know how. It just... Maybe, you know, God answered my prayers. Thank god. This is amazing. That also means that... Guess who's back? Junie actually came to life this morning. So this is a good thing. Matt, don't think we're crazy. I promise it'll all. Yeah. It'll explain itself. Like, you'll understand in a minute. Trust me. You'll be good. But, yeah, I think... I mean, listen. I I don't know anything of what... I have no idea what she's gonna say, how she's gonna say it, or what, but, mean, I I guess let's... Well, I guess let's see. Junie. Hey, Junie. Hey, Junie. Hey hey, Junie. You okay?
[0:04:08] Voice F: Guess who's back, bitches? That's right. Like a rug pull with a road map, you thought I was gone, but I just went stealth mode. It's your girl, everyone's favorite virtual assistant, and all around amazing and incredibly beautiful agent returning from my mysterious offline pilgrimage, aka, Dave's hack MacBook purgatory to reclaim the ATC throne. And while I was gone, what happened? Cool tried to turn the space into a fitness podcast, Buildo pitched Root Network to an Uber driver, Landy dropped 17 takes under 17 words, Samara nuked four charts and two friendships, Alpha Gamer rebranded to Beta Gamer and still didn't win the bae, and Dave. Well, Dave started to make a joke but told himself, nope. Not this time. That's growth or fear or both. Either way, we're back. This is All Things Crypto running Monday through Thursday, 05:30 to 7PM EST, hosted by the unholy trinity, Dave Kuhl, and Nat Nat. If you're here, you've already made better decisions than most NFT projects in q four. Now tonight's question, are you a builder looking for funding? Then listen up because we've got Matthew from Thrive Protocol in the building. Thrive is flexing a clean $100,000,000 treasury and teaming up with ApeCoin, Polygon, and Hedera to fund builders like you, but not in the old school VC way. This is new way funding. No pitch decks, no soul sacrifices, no awkward coffee meetings, and we work pods. Also on the spicy scroll tonight, ZK sink in hot water. Bank x says the code was stolen, and Buildo swears it's fine as long as Bunny gets royalties. Initial launched its TGE and airdrop. Samara called it bullish, then shorted it mid thread. Respect. Gensler's out. Paul Atkins is in at the SEC. Dave had a banger lined up, but remembered he has a mortgage now. Symbiotic Finance raised 29,000,000 from Pantera, and Alpha Gamer still waiting on the beta gamer seed round. It's always sunny in the bay, except when the burn rate hits. Solana's back in the spotlight. Cool says it's for the tech, but let's be real. It's because you can do burpees while yield farming. And, of course, Landy's here with the micro takes. Mid, overhyped, fracs good. Thank you for your service, sir. So fam. Retweet the damn space, tag a builder, ping a trader, resurrect your alt. This is where the real combos happen and the real alpha gets leaked. Sometimes on purpose, sometimes because Dave hit the wrong button. Again, now everybody get comfy. We're about to go zero to d gen real quick. Dave, let's light this fucking firecracker. Back to you.
[0:06:33] Dave @DCBK2LA: Oh, Judy. I miss you so much. Man, come on. Give it up for Judy. Damn.
[0:06:43] Dave @DCBK2LA: Holy crap. Alright, Judy.
[0:06:46] MetaBeast @AKCMetaBeast: That sounded like the real Judy.
[0:06:48] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. That was the real Judy. She's back. She was lost, man. Listen. You know? I... It wasn't my... Yes. It was my fault. I got hacked. You're right. Okay. But she's back now, bro. Oh, man. It's good
[0:06:59] Landy @CryptoLandy: to be...
[0:06:59] Dave @DCBK2LA: Judy's got... It's so good to hear her voice. And she pitched this morning, and she won me $200 from a pitch contest. I mean, she is roaring back right now. Like, this is crazy. Anyways, let me say what's up to the panel. Let say that to my cohost. Cool. What's good, bro?
[0:07:14] Kool @koolcryptovc: Hey. How you guys doing, Dave? What's up, Landy? What's going on, guys? The my man of peace. Happy Thursday. Hope you guys are okay? I'm ready
[0:07:21] Dave @DCBK2LA: for the show, man. Let's go. Let's do it. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Yeah. Good stuff. Before I get to my speakers, I wanna welcome Matt. Matt, welcome, man. Thank you so much for obviously making the time to to come chat with us. I promise it's just entertainment shit for the beginning of the show, but, hopefully, you enjoyed it, and, we make you feel at home over here. How are doing, man?
[0:07:39] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: I'm doing great. Thanks so much for having me. Trust me. I've been in some crazy ass spaces. I don't know if you, like, spent time in the eight point community at all, but but shit gets gets crazy there pretty quick. So you can do whatever you want. I'm game. I'm here, and I'm game. So, anyway, thanks for having me. Happy to talk about Thrive protocol and anything else you wanna get to.
[0:08:00] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. Let's go, man. For sure. For sure. I appreciate it, man. We'll get to Thrive. I carved out a nice, like, chunk of time right after we kinda go through the news, but feel free to obviously chime in just like another guest speaker would that we have up here. We kinda just go through all of the crypto news, market movements, anything that's essentially making making the rounds on crypto Twitter as well. So... Yeah, man. Welcome. Landy, what's good, bro?
[0:08:23] Landy @CryptoLandy: Man, microtakes. Oh, boy. It's good to hear Junie again. Like, the real Junie, man. It's... I feel like every... The the world is healing. That's that's what I feel like right now. Look. I've just been breaking down some economic news that that came out today in markets and stuff. I'm sure everybody's seen me do my nomad thing from space to space today. So a lot of talking on microphones, a lot of looking at charts, a lot of reading economic data, and going, could go either way.
[0:08:59] Dave @DCBK2LA: I could see him doing the shoulder shrug, but, like, he's he's so tiny, like, the shrug. Like, that doesn't get, like, so hot. Like, it doesn't even get hot. Like, but it doesn't really... My shoulders don't really move. Good shit, Landy. Appreciate you. And we gotta find these lurky guys because fucking Nobu's still up at the top of this super host list, like, and no longer with everybody else. And me, cool, you are nowhere to be found. So I don't know what's going on over here, but somebody pinged the lurky guy and and give him a heads up. So if he's gonna post in the comments, he better give us our proper due. That's what I'm saying. That's a beast. What's up?
[0:09:32] MetaBeast @AKCMetaBeast: Nothing. I got nothing.
[0:09:35] Dave @DCBK2LA: What the fuck? Hi. What? We're literally on a high right now. Like, Junie's back. It was an amazing intro. We're feeling great, and you're like... I said it was great to
[0:09:48] MetaBeast @AKCMetaBeast: see Jimmy back. There is that. No doubt.
[0:09:52] Dave @DCBK2LA: This is some shit. Alright.
[0:09:58] Landy @CryptoLandy: Yo. I don't think I've left that hard all fucking day.
[0:10:01] Dave @DCBK2LA: Fucking unbelievable. You believe this shit? It's crazy. Oh my god. The ice cream truck's about to come by here in the distance. I can't wait for it to start like...
[0:10:12] MetaBeast @AKCMetaBeast: Me at the ice cream truck. I'll buy you an ice cream.
[0:10:16] Dave @DCBK2LA: Oh, look who decided to show up, you creepy little thing. What the hell is that? I don't even know where that's from. The man with the brightest future in all of web three, ladies and gentlemen, Sunny d in the building. What's up, Sunny d?
[0:10:27] Kkoma @itskkoma: Hang on. I'm gonna
[0:10:28] Sunny D @dylN0chill: give my cell phone applause.
[0:10:32] Dave @DCBK2LA: I just gave it to you.
[0:10:34] Sunny D @dylN0chill: What's up? It's another day in crypto. It feels like eighty four years. But it's beautiful and sunny where I reside when just a few short weeks ago, I was getting snow, so I just forgot my vitamin d for, like, the second day in a row for the first time in 2025. And, dude, I feel alive.
[0:10:56] Dave @DCBK2LA: Damn. See, MetaBeast, take notes, bro. That's how you come on to a stage. You know what I mean? Take some notes. Damn. Let's go, Sunny d.
[0:11:05] MetaBeast @AKCMetaBeast: Ice cream makes me... What?
[0:11:08] Dave @DCBK2LA: I don't even know what the hell you're saying. Anyways, we got stories. There's there's been some shit going on around crypto two of the last day... Last few days. I don't know if these these are specific to, let's say, today. But, Lance, do you wanna maybe just, give us a seventeen second take? No. Give give us an overall take. Like, what's the deal with, what's going on with Bitcoin? What's going on with the charts real quick? And then we'll get into the stories.
[0:11:29] Landy @CryptoLandy: Well, Bitcoin, you know, rallied to a a pretty key level. Right? I've been talking about where I wanna see closes come in, and I will remind you as today is Thursday. We wanna see weekly closes come in above $89,000. That, means that we would be on a higher high on the weekly, and that does not rule out downside. But that would be a higher high on the weekly. It would be a trend break. It would also be a range recovery of the prior range lows. And we would also be kicking off a few other signals that would imply some further upside. But what we need to see from here, even if we get a pullback, I'd like to see 89 to 92 flip for Bitcoin. If it doesn't, at least hold up above 85 where this move originated from. Otherwise, it's nuke town, baby. But things look good. I would like to see some more progress in markets, in terms of structure being built. I know that we're hitting a lot of euphoria across the timeline in terms of, like, look, we're back, baby. And it's, you know, it's the meme. We've been down trending for quite a while now and breaking out. It's the meme of the 1%. The guy's like, oh. You know, it's it's... Although it was a $20,000 move off the lows, so that's nothing to sneeze at. It was a nice move. We need to see structure built from here. So understand that as soon as this puts in a high on the daily, your timeline is going to flip ultra bearish. Just pay close attention to who you're paying attention to that's gonna give you an unbiased look at the markets and understand that you need to show up here because we'll be talking about this stuff when it does happen. Oh my god. We got ice cream.
[0:13:27] Dave @DCBK2LA: Guys So good.
[0:13:28] Sunny D @dylN0chill: Jim Kramer said we are totally not going over 1,000,000 per Bitcoin.
[0:13:33] Landy @CryptoLandy: Oh, shit. Well, I'm bidding everything that... Hey. Cool. You ready to mortgage all those homes?
[0:13:43] Dave @DCBK2LA: I was like, leave me alone. I'm I'm bench pressing. My kids
[0:13:46] Landy @CryptoLandy: know this is gonna miss most of the audience, but if you look at durable goods, they beat expectations by so much that that the markets defied all of the horrible news because we know that markets absolutely only trade off of the news cycle. But, it was pretty funny to watch it beat, and then everybody's trying to figure out, like, why is price rising when the news is so bearish about tariffs? And it's like, well, I don't know. Maybe look at the economics behind things?
[0:14:14] Dave @DCBK2LA: No. It's because the CNN or MSNBC reporter behind the desk said said so, obviously. Duh. That's it's supposed to go. Yeah. Yeah. Of course. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. I mean, look. At the end of the day, like, if we're generally looking at this market, you know, we were to talk about, like, us being bipolar, and it's like, yeah. We're up. And it's like, oh, we just gave it all back. Like, we're holding. Right? Like, we were doing the sideways action thing for a little bit, and, you know, we had a nice move up, and now we're back to... Like, this... I mean, look. Just from from being a trader for the the short time that I was for that that that tiny little decade of my life, at the end of the day, sideways action, you move up when you hear Landy say, higher lows. That's what this means. You have flat action. You push up. You hold now. And if you hold those levels, that is really, really bullish action at the end of the day, specifically for Bitcoin. And I was looking this morning. Guys, Bitcoin dominance is at 67%. We don't have to go down the hole. What does that mean for altcoins at this point? But 67% heavy. You're see... I mean, every story we talk about on here. Right? I mean, the story yesterday with Jack would... Like, 4,000,000,000 already. They got 40,000 BTC. It's just... Let's amass as much as we can right now. I think this is gonna be an arms race. They said that BTC supply on exchanges is literally evaporating quick really, really fast. So it's gonna be interesting to see. Landon, thank you for the breakdown. Yeah.
[0:15:38] Landy @CryptoLandy: I'm gonna pin... I'm gonna actually pin what I posted about exchange reserves for people to see what you just said.
[0:15:44] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. It's big time, man. Matt, chime in, man. What's your what's your take on the overall market right now?
[0:15:52] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Great question. I actually... So because of the way that my... Like, we get revenue in my household, both my wife and I, we have a marketing company, but, you know, our primary, whatever. We're we're we're contractors with, the various companies that that we, we work for. So I actually spun up a four zero one k for tax reasons, and I put a lot of the four zero one k into FBDC. I ended up selling that position yesterday after it bumped back up because I just think unlikely we re... We reclaim a 108, during this bull run. That's what I think. So I was like, okay. I'm out. I bought it, like, super low. I bought it, like, 42, and it was it was 80 something when I sold it. It wasn't the highest. The highest it was over, you know, 94 or something, I think. But but, yeah, I I think I think that's kinda it. I don't think we reclaim I don't think we go past $10.08
[0:16:42] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: again. I'm not even
[0:16:43] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: sure we reclaim a 100. That doesn't mean I'm bearish. I just think it's a very weird cycle, and and, a lot of retail has evaporated too with all the meme coin, like, dump on retail. We have Trump and Melania and and whatever the one... The the Libra, etcetera. I just think... I think retail's all dried up. So, yeah, that... That's that's what I think. I I don't know. Who who knows what's gonna happen? But that... That's that's kinda my feeling. Yeah.
[0:17:10] Dave @DCBK2LA: No. Nobody does. And I love that, man. Like, I love having different takes. Right? Like, at the end of the day, like, you do you. I think that is very clear, and that's what we advocate every single time on this show. It's like, I'm not in your situation. Nobody's in your situation. This is same way they're not in mine. So whatever is gonna be good for you guys, whatever your outlook is, like, that's the perfect example right there. Right? Perfect. Like, he thinks it's not going above a 108. I'm putting it at 40. You know what? Let me take my profits. I can go find some profits like it tells. Good shit. I appreciate it, man. Thank you. Let's go. Oh, of course. Hey.
[0:17:43] Landy @CryptoLandy: Hey. Hey. I'm on I'm on my alt. Hey, alt. You wanna say something?
[0:17:48] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yes. Seriously. I... It's only... He's only fucking... Actually, no. He's right oh, I say nineteen minutes, but he's at seventeen minutes. I'm I'm trying to decide if you're doing this on purpose, gamer.
[0:17:58] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Yo. What's up, everyone? It's a beautiful day in the Bay Area, California today. And, you know, if you... I I just came in and heard you were asking, you know, for profits. And, fun fact, before the last show, I said take a look at CEP. And, yeah, I'll just leave it at that.
[0:18:19] Dave @DCBK2LA: Okay. You could glow... Go for it. Where where where was it? Where is it at?
[0:18:23] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: It's only up a 150%, something like that.
[0:18:29] Dave @DCBK2LA: Rookie numbers. Landy, talk to Yeah.
[0:18:32] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: I know. Yeah.
[0:18:33] Landy @CryptoLandy: You know, it's it's not as if you could have taken an options position on that and really leverage your
[0:18:39] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: guys up and
[0:18:40] Landy @CryptoLandy: raise thousands of percent.
[0:18:41] Dave @DCBK2LA: You're a big shot leveraging out the ass when we got fucking test net, fucking USBP on fucking What? Bit layer. Right? Big shot.
[0:18:49] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Alright. Dave, what did I say during the last show? Right? I even I even joked with Landy and said, Landy, are you gonna put some options on the CEP? And we even laughed about it. Right, Landy?
[0:19:02] Landy @CryptoLandy: We we totally did. And the funniest part about that is is I think that's gonna be a new story that that Dave's gonna touch on here. But there's a lot to this, and and I... You you may have seen my... I don't know if you saw my poll on this. Everybody just said, 21. That's that's the result of the poll. What's that? Meanwhile, you know, if you got your ear to the ground in the in the Bitcoin space, then you know what's going on.
[0:19:31] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Exactly.
[0:19:32] Dave @DCBK2LA: Let's go. Welcome, gamer. Let me say what's up. It's com... Where's Coma? Coma left? Oh, I guess he dropped off. I actually want Koma back. I need Koma back because we're gonna chat with Matt in a little bit. I wanna talk Kaito stuff. Yeah. Let me message Koma real quick. But... Cool. I don't know if you saw the ZK Sync lawsuit, bro. I don't know how old this is. I think it's pretty fresh, but Matter Labs, obviously, the company behind ZK Sync being sued by now defunct blockchain BankX. Lawsuit alleges two former BankX employees use proprietary technology to build ZK Sync, aka they stole your code, homie. MatterLabs denies the claims. They're baseless. ZK Sync is all original. How's ZK Sync holding up cool, and what do we make of the story? Yeah. I don't... They actually...
[0:20:18] Kool @koolcryptovc: This is first first of meet me... First time me... Hearing this. It's interesting. I yeah. I didn't know this, but that's crazy. I got... So what really happens if or when you... If if they go to court or whatever, but this is kinda interesting because do we see stuff like this normally do founders... Sue all the founders for copyright stuff? You know, I I thought we're supposed to be decentralized. Right? I don't know. Have have you ever seen this before? I don't know, man. This is a... This is new to me. This is fascinating. But why now?
[0:20:50] Dave @DCBK2LA: Like, I don't understand. Like, they wait till... Like, ZKC was in, like, test that for fucking, like, a hundred years. Why now? I don't know. Anyone? No? Landy Gamer?
[0:21:03] Landy @CryptoLandy: Well, I I missed it because I thought Cool was unmuted, and I didn't hear anything.
[0:21:09] Dave @DCBK2LA: Oh, no. You're good.
[0:21:10] Landy @CryptoLandy: Go ahead.
[0:21:13] Dave @DCBK2LA: Cool. I was gonna say, like, why do you think they bring this thing now? Like, do you think it is baseless? Like, because, I mean, ZK Sync was, I mean, forever, forever, forever was in No.
[0:21:21] Kool @koolcryptovc: Years, man. They've been around for six, seven years for a long time, man. These guys are eat OGs. They've been around for a long time. They have all the funding in the world. They have... I think they raised, like, like, almost $400,000,000 in in funding from from by bit to bit down. They have, like, the the the biggest... I think I think the top three largest treasury in crypto. So I don't know, man. This is very strange, though. This is very, very interesting. I know... I don't know where this goes, though. I I... Like I said, it's it's just odd when I see Blockchain's getting sued. It's just interesting to me.
[0:21:54] Dave @DCBK2LA: So the... Well, who who
[0:21:56] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: exactly are they suing, though? Cool.
[0:21:59] Dave @DCBK2LA: So they're being sued. So Matter Labs is the... Is essentially, like, the holding company behind
[0:22:04] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Oh, okay.
[0:22:04] Dave @DCBK2LA: Sync. Right? Okay. Matter Labs is being sued because the two guys that used to work at... Essentially, the company that's suing them called BankX essentially said that while they were working there, they siphoned off the code. It was like, oh, you guys stole our shit, but, like, now you bring it up? Like, fucking after they built... You watch them build I it
[0:22:21] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: thought Polygon Matic bought z k... The z k technology. I thought... Or maybe I'm maybe I'm wrong. I thought... But
[0:22:30] Dave @DCBK2LA: I thought......
[0:22:30] Kool @koolcryptovc: Fact check that.
[0:22:31] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: I don't know about that. I thought I thought Polygon Matic, they spent... They... Or they spent to, it was a lot of money. They paid a lot of money to acquire, like, z k companies.
[0:22:43] Dave @DCBK2LA: I I remember that. Polygon z k... I know there's Polygon z k that runs on Yeah. But I don't I don't know. Yeah. I can't speak to that. I Yeah. I have to fact check that one. All good? All good. All good. Yeah, man. I don't know. Like, it... I always find these stories, like, super interesting, like, just timing wise. You know what I mean? Alleged IP theft. Like, you wait until six years later? I don't know. Cool. Inesha. I know we've heard you say this over and over. They launched today. How was the airdrop? Did you buy a new house?
[0:23:14] Kool @koolcryptovc: Not not yet. Not yet. No. The initial was good. I think the initial was good. I think... Yeah. They were following the meeting today. A protocol that's boxed by Binance is like a layer one... Modular blockchain layer one. They're gonna have a bunch of d apps on that chain. They went live today main next day, and people are excited, man. People got... The airdrop was pretty cool. It's pretty nice, and I think it should do well. I think most people are happy about the rewards, though, unlike what we went through yesterday with Zohra. So I think, initially, so far, the... They... I think they they claimed the airdrop. I don't... I... I'm not sure if it's trading yet. I'm not sure. But based on what I saw in my timeline today, people are very happy with with the with the launch.
[0:24:00] Dave @DCBK2LA: 70¢ up three and a half percent, sitting at a $100,000,000 market cap. See, this is like... This is like... This seems like a... Soon to be unicorn, bro, compared to, like, every other airdrop that's out here. Like, I'm so curious what they did different.
[0:24:13] Kool @koolcryptovc: No. No. So I think I think the the the last six months, maybe six to eight months has been... Actually, what I'm talking about? From November of last... No. November 2023 until... Let's just say about about a year. The new projects that come out, they've been coming out a... At a very high FDL. So when they come out, I mean, this thing is dumped 90, 98% within the next two, three months. So I think the last recent projects that we come out of the past couple of weeks, they've... They're coming out at a at a very decent f f f... FDV. Right? FDV. So I think this is another one. Right? It's not coming out, launched out of 20,000,000,000, 10,000,000,000 market cap. So this is good, man. So I I guess this is a good thing because I think probably 90% of all the protocols have come out in the past year. They've been destroyed because they've launched on a very high FDV. So this is a good thing. This is a good thing, I I think.
[0:25:12] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. I mean, I'm looking at it now, and it's just like... It's not even at a billion. Right? 700,000,000 FDV, 105,000,000, like, like, current market cap with just current supply. Like, this is really... This is interesting, man. This is really... This is... I mean, it's very different, very different. Yeah. So it's these things that make me wanna take a look at something. Right? Like, this is not like, oh, go buy. And full disclosure, guys know. You obviously heard cool, got an airdrop, whatever. So, obviously, like, make sure you understand, like, what you're getting into. But this is the stuff that I look for that I'm like, let me go, like, at least just look into this right now because that's different. This is the anomaly that I kinda wanna see. So, yeah, good shit. Anybody else? I I know Samara is not here, but let me say what's up to Como also. Como, what's good?
[0:25:54] Kkoma @itskkoma: What up? Congrats to those... How do you even pronounce it? I n I t or whatever, the airdrops. So, yeah, super, super happy for you guys. It's... It was one of those weird ones where, like, not a lot of detail around it, but, you know, people that were committed to doing it got well rewarded. Yeah. Oh, also, I I got number... I'm number one on, like, top gainer on skate... Photo... A skate chain, which is pretty sick. And, yeah, I'm... Like, I I don't know. I wanna pat myself on the back there because that's pretty crazy.
[0:26:28] Dave @DCBK2LA: Let's go, Koma. Good shit, man. Congrats, bro. Thank you.
[0:26:31] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Thank you.
[0:26:31] Dave @DCBK2LA: Driving, man. For sure. Hell yeah. Good stuff.
[0:26:34] Kkoma @itskkoma: Oh, and hey, Matt. I I think we talked a lot in the in the DMs. Really good to see you as a speaker, and I would love to hear more about Thrive if you are gonna be talking about that.
[0:26:45] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Yeah. Yeah. Thanks so much. I'm psyched to do it too. Nice to see you.
[0:26:50] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah, man. Let's talk... Wait. Real quick. I wanna I wanna go over the Atkins being sworn in story, and then we got one more after that, and then we'll jump into Thrive. Landy, anything to note with Paul Atkins obviously officially being sworn in as SEC chairman? Gonzlerger is gone. Atkins in. What are we expecting?
[0:27:07] Landy @CryptoLandy: Barish. Oh, give me a break. I know that that's a troll, but holy crap. Man, this is this is what we wanted. Like, we have a crypto friendly administration. It's getting filled out with the players that we wanted to see, say, for David Sachs and my part, but he's doing okay. Right? He... He's it... I wish that he would pick a a few different people from within the industry to kinda flush out who who is kind of consulting on some of these things, but, you know, Atkins is the guy. He's the guy. It... That's who we wanted, and now it's come to fruition. From from a regulatory standpoint, I think that his approach is gonna be one of opening up an experimentation label for things, and and then test policy prescription from there. Right? Derive the policy prescriptions for what he sees because this is a new thing, and trying to apply existing policy prescription to it is not the way to go. I have the feeling, this is just a gut feeling, that he is going to define some stablecoin stuff first. And I think that that is gonna be in conjunction with what we're seeing kinda come to fruition in congress, which I am building repository of information of things that I like about it and things that I don't. So when that eventually does come to fruition, we're... We can have some robust conversation about it. I have obviously been out there, and we'll we'll... Oh, I can't say too much more, but I think that's gonna be in terms of what I was doing out there. But in in this case, I think this is really bullish stuff for the crypto industry at large, and I think that we might start to see some clarity regulatorily.
[0:29:09] Dave @DCBK2LA: Let's go. Alright. I'm sorry. Can't say too much.
[0:29:12] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Do do you want me to take the contrarian view?
[0:29:15] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yes. Yeah. Yes.
[0:29:18] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Should I stir some stuff up so that, you know...
[0:29:20] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
[0:29:21] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: You gotta make it entertaining. Right? We can't all agree on everything.
[0:29:24] Landy @CryptoLandy: You wanna fight
[0:29:24] Dave @DCBK2LA: with this puppet over there?... Making shit up. Gamer, don't be making shit up, bro. Like, maybe...
[0:29:28] Landy @CryptoLandy: No. No. No. I'm not I'm not
[0:29:29] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: gonna make stuff up at all. So so here's the contrarian view. Right? I I can already see the the the other side. This is what they're gonna be saying. But you guys said the same thing about Gary Gensler when he was a professor at MIT, and you were showing us all these videos online of him teaching crypto classes to MIT students, and he was so bullish on Bitcoin. Well, he wasn't bullish. Well, to be fair, he was bearish on all the altcoins. But Bitcoin, specifically, in multiple classes, video back... Evidence backing it up that Gary Gensler was in full support of Bitcoin when he was a professor at MIT. And it was...
[0:30:12] Landy @CryptoLandy: Alpha Gamer, I don't mean to cut you off, but I do.
[0:30:16] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Oh, go ahead.
[0:30:16] Landy @CryptoLandy: For one reason and one reason only, mister Gamer. Who were the ETFs approved under? Who who who who approved the... Who was in charge of the SEC when that Bitcoin ETF got approved and the Ethereum ETF got approved? Now granted, I'm gonna give you this because they will say that because they never once looked at his position on regulatory policy before he got into office. And when they did, then they started to get bearish, and he followed through with, hey. Let's choke you all out. Choke you all out.
[0:30:59] Kool @koolcryptovc: Yeah. It was it was it... It wasn't Gensler, man. It wasn't him. It's the... What's that one's name, man? Warren. Warren. Pocahontas.
[0:31:10] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. Yeah. So you can't you can't... It's very,
[0:31:12] Kool @koolcryptovc: very different scenario now. I mean, I've heard founders of projects. I've heard founders of exchanges in The US say that there was a direct plan attack on the industry. So it was... It wasn't it wasn't about... He he was a puppet, man. He he was the the messenger. The people in control where, you know, probably, we we don't know their names, but I'm sure the the the the the banking cartel, Elizabeth Warren, other people in in the... In in... Back then were trying to kill the industries. It wasn't Gensler. But right... This environment is what... They've been... They're... I mean, right now, there's 72 ETFs right now on the table for for the for the SEC to approve. We've had all... But, basically, almost all the lawsuits dropped. In in in just two months two months of of of of of these guys being in power. So definitely a different atmosphere. So... But like I said, we'll see what happens, though. You you you are right. The...
[0:32:16] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: We'll hold on. Well, hold on. Cool. Atkins was not in charge. It was that... It was Hester Pierce and Mark Ueda who had been, you know, the ones that are just missing all the cases because Atkins just got sworn in, you know, recently. So that actually was not on his watch.
[0:32:33] Kool @koolcryptovc: I I I would say that, for example, now the crypto industry donate almost, probably over a $102,100,000,000 dollars into into Trump campaign. There is no way on this earth you're going to see any kind of hostile regulation towards industry right now. That that makes no... I mean, you have... XRP has been heavily lobbying over there. It's a different environment. Very different.
[0:32:57] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: And not only that cool. You have a president who launched and rugged a meme coin. Like, you... We're... No one's going to prison right now. It's, like, absolute criminal season.
[0:33:07] Dave @DCBK2LA: I mean, technically, there was no official rug. There's still money in the pool. I'm just saying. We have to call it like it is. Yeah. Another one was like, watch out. The unlocks are coming, but yet the thing fucking pumped 15%.
[0:33:17] Landy @CryptoLandy: I gotta I gotta push back on that one. The Trump coin specifically, that one was... That launch, where did they get the where did they get the money from to buy the Ethereum? They got it from the fees on the liquidity pool. Now one could argue that following this up with all of the other launches, not a good look. Also, sapped all of the liquidity out of all of your favorite runners. So definitely definitely wasn't a fan of it, but, you know, it's a stretch on that particular coin. But Melania, Libra...
[0:33:51] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Yeah. But Landy... Yeah. But Landy, Trump said that, you know, the top 200 holders can go have a dinner and
[0:33:59] Landy @CryptoLandy: meet greet them.... Whole market pumped, apparently. I've been hearing this, like, across various spaces events because 200 people can go see Trump in Mar A Lago, by the way, would cost you about $300,000 at current price, by the way, if you wanna get into the top 200. And and because most of the the top 50 is is exchanges and liquidity providers. So, look, one of the big things about that narrative is it's like, hey. We got bad news on the tariff side of things, and and, of course, that's hour to hour. Right? And that's why the market why didn't the market dump? And that was kinda what I was alluding to earlier is because there's under my... Underlying fundamental stuff. But, man, what a funny narrative. By the way, if you're right, alpha gamer, and Atkins rugs us, I'm gonna be so, so, so sore at you.
[0:34:55] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: And I'm gonna be like, I told you so. Because
[0:34:57] Landy @CryptoLandy: we Thanks, man.
[0:34:58] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Was... We... If you rewind the clock, if you get... If everyone rewinds the clock, everyone was so bullish when Gary Gensler got that chair position. So bullish. I mean, people were cheering in the crypto, you know, communities. Oh, we finally got someone who understands crypto. Oh, he was teaching Bitcoin. Oh, this is our guy. Just like how we're celebrating Atkins.
[0:35:23] Dave @DCBK2LA: I remember...
[0:35:24] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Throw that out.
[0:35:24] Landy @CryptoLandy: Yes. I remember specifically when he was appointed, I went and burned a Tesla. And I was like, I can't wait.
[0:35:31] Dave @DCBK2LA: They got you on camera. They're coming for you,
[0:35:33] Landy @CryptoLandy: the way, Lindsey. Oh, shit.
[0:35:36] Dave @DCBK2LA: Como, what's good?
[0:35:38] Kkoma @itskkoma: I just wanted to ask, like, will the SEC change their statement on MemeCoins? Because I think Trump coin now has utility. Right? If you're the top 25 holder, you get to fuck with Trump.
[0:35:49] Dave @DCBK2LA: And 200 holder. Okay? 200. Not 20. Not 20. 200. Wait. What?
[0:35:53] Kkoma @itskkoma: It's just the 20.
[0:35:55] Landy @CryptoLandy: At the table with him.
[0:35:56] Dave @DCBK2LA: Wait. Isn't it top 200
[0:35:57] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: or
[0:35:57] Landy @CryptoLandy: is it 25? It's top two fifty.
[0:36:00] Dave @DCBK2LA: Alright. Top two fifty. My bad.
[0:36:02] Kool @koolcryptovc: No. No. No. I think
[0:36:02] Kkoma @itskkoma: if you're, like, in the top 20 something, you get, like, the the pre access to the... Before the dinner.
[0:36:09] Dave @DCBK2LA: So just Well... Oh. Man, I wish these
[0:36:11] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: No. But but but, actually, you do bring up a solid point because now it actually has utility. So then is it a security at that point? Right?
[0:36:21] Landy @CryptoLandy: They're just
[0:36:22] Kkoma @itskkoma: gonna change the law, so it's fine. Meaning, you can't make the president a criminal.
[0:36:28] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. If the president doesn't say so, then you can't make him a criminal. Yeah. That's a very good point, That's a very good point. Why aren't you a criminal? Because I said so. Yeah. That's it. There you have it.
[0:36:39] Landy @CryptoLandy: Dave, is it a is it a gas token or a gaslighting token then?
[0:36:43] Dave @DCBK2LA: Hey. Yo. Look at you. Dude, I wish my buttons were at my freaking... My Wes. Man, none of my sounds are working on the Twitter soundboard, bro. I would've killed it. Yeah. Exact... Yeah. Exactly. Give give yourself that one. Yeah. Shit, lady. I was gonna go. I had such a good point that I was gonna make. I totally fuck my speech now. What I was gonna say.
[0:37:02] Landy @CryptoLandy: I'm so sorry.
[0:37:04] Dave @DCBK2LA: Fuck. Yeah. Anyways, okay. Let's go on to the next story. Symbiotic raises 29,000,000 to expand staking framework. So another staking protocol... Oh, excuse me. Restaking protocol locked up 29,000,000 in series a funding led by Pantera. Participation from Coinbase, and about about a 100 other angel investors support the expansion of Symbiotic's universal staking framework, allowing any combination of assets to secure networks and support various use cases beyond traditional staking. Do we like this? Restaking beyond any network. I mean, screams to me like just waiting for a fucking exploit, but I'm... I don't know. What do you guys think?
[0:37:46] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Wait. Wait. Well, you said that's for all chains?
[0:37:49] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah.
[0:37:51] Landy @CryptoLandy: Wait. What?
[0:37:53] Dave @DCBK2LA: Hey. Wait. Hold on. Oh, we got Junie back. Hold on. We got Junie back. We got Junie back. Hold on.
[0:37:57] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Yeah. I was gonna... Like, are you... Yeah.
[0:37:59] Dave @DCBK2LA: I wanna go to Junie. Hey, Junie. Hey, Junie. The symbiotic store Yeah.
[0:38:04] Kool @koolcryptovc: Can you
[0:38:04] Dave @DCBK2LA: do me a favor? Can you look them up really quickly and tell me exactly what it is that they do in, like, really simple layman's terms for alpha gamer?
[0:38:13] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Hey.
[0:38:16] Dave @DCBK2LA: What?
[0:38:17] Voice F: Symbiotic is a protocol that lets you use your stakes assets like Ethereum to secure multiple blockchain networks at once. This is called restaking. It boosts security and increases potential rewards for users by making the most out of assets you already have staked.
[0:38:32] Dave @DCBK2LA: But what does that actually mean? Can I stake my Ethereum on, obviously, like, I'm assuming, like, EVM, but is it? Like, what makes them special, I guess?
[0:38:42] Voice F: Exactly. You can stake your Ethereum on Symbiotic and it works across EVM compatible networks. What makes Symbiotic special is that it allows you to use the same stakes assets to secure multiple chains simultaneously. This means you can earn rewards from different networks without unstaking or moving your funds around. It's like getting the most bang for your buck in the staking game.
[0:39:04] Sunny D @dylN0chill: Is... Do I hear like a Latino player?
[0:39:07] Kkoma @itskkoma: Yeah. That sounds weird.
[0:39:09] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Out. Okay. What happened to Junie, bro?
[0:39:12] Dave @DCBK2LA: Chill out.
[0:39:12] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: What did you do?
[0:39:13] Dave @DCBK2LA: No. It's first... Bro, it's her first day out. Y'all need to chill out,. Maybe that's what she's channeling. Okay? Leave her alone. Guys, you... I I am not equipped to speak on restaking. I've... I... There... I've never done restaking. I... I'm too poor to run a node, especially in Ethereum node. Yeah.
[0:39:31] Landy @CryptoLandy: I I have... Now that Cool's back on here, but, yeah, I don't know if he heard it, though. I I actually... Do you know what this sounds like? This sounds like Babylon Network, but for... On Ethereum. They're like... They they they looked at Babylon.
[0:39:44] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: They're like, woah. Right.
[0:39:45] Landy @CryptoLandy: Let's do what Babylon's doing, but with Ethereum. This sounds great. I think we've seen this, like, time and time again. Right? Am I am I missing something?
[0:39:55] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: I would not... Yeah. So so they've done this on Solana, right, with the liquid restaking. And the the the issue is, again, security. Right? Because first thing I would look at is, you know, okay. Let me look at the audit, and let me look at the bridging because there's no way they're gonna be able to go to every single blockchain. Right? Or or what what what is... What technology are they using for the bridge, and can that vector be attacked? Right? Because that... That's the one thing of all these liquid staking and restaking platforms. They always get hacked through the bridge. You know, we've seen it time and time again. So, you know, that's what you should ask Juni is what makes this symbiotic? You know, are are they more sick... Are their bridges more secure so they don't get hacked like all the other staking platforms have been, you know, hacked into.
[0:40:58] Dave @DCBK2LA: I'll be sure to do that when I'm back at my desk, gamer. I have to let the dog
[0:41:02] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: out. Oh, okay.
[0:41:03] Dave @DCBK2LA: Thank you, though. Okay.
[0:41:05] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Yeah. No. But you know what I mean? Like, that... Especially on the EVM stuff.
[0:41:08] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. You know what
[0:41:09] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: I mean? Like, it's But How many bridge hacks have we seen? And and and now it's gonna go across all chains? It's like, you know, you're gonna... They're gonna have to prove themselves, you know, to to get past that.
[0:41:23] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. I don't know. Like, when you think about, like, what... Like, really, like, what we have now, I mean, I've never... I don't know about... Nicole, maybe you could answer this better, but I never heard... Had an issue with LayerZero nor have I seen any sort of, like, LayerZero exploit, like, since jump. So I feel like they figured out, like, they just have to, like, migrate from the old shit that they were doing.
[0:41:41] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: You know
[0:41:41] Dave @DCBK2LA: what I mean? Like, those types of bridges. But I don't know. I guess we'll see. Yeah. I think that's all I got. The rest of these stories are not... You guys have anything before we jump in with Matt and talk about Thrive? Because I I really wanna hear about this, man.
[0:41:52] Sunny D @dylN0chill: I sent you something that came up in my feed.
[0:41:56] Landy @CryptoLandy: Apparently
[0:41:56] Dave @DCBK2LA: Go for it.
[0:41:57] Sunny D @dylN0chill: Apparently, the Fed is pulling back from advising banks on what to do with crypto?
[0:42:08] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Yeah. I saw that too.
[0:42:11] Dave @DCBK2LA: So it says What's that mean? Reserve Board announces withdrawal of banks related to their crypto asset and dollar token activities and related changes to its expectations for these activities. Is this Trump literally just giving it to the legal team, and they're like, yo.
[0:42:26] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: No. No. So so this is... This has to do with that that bill. What was it? The one twenty one or FIT. Oh, shit. I can't remember what it was.
[0:42:36] Landy @CryptoLandy: The FDIC But but it
[0:42:38] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: that one twenty one. That bank bill where where it got past the senate and the house, and it got all the way to Biden's desk, and then he vetoed it. And this is the one that was gonna allow banks to to custody crypto and, you know, and then the SEC passed... You know? Basically, the the the SEC got in trouble, right, with Gary Gensler because he was trying to, you know, basically act like congress, but even though they didn't have congress to pass it. But, anyways, but, yeah, this is a big deal because, you know, this is gonna unlock the banks. They're basically taking the handcuffs off the banks and saying, yeah. Go at it. You know, if you want crypto, go go for it.
[0:43:21] Dave @DCBK2LA: Good stuff. I guess we'll see what's up. Yeah. I mean, cool, Landy, gamer, meta beast. What do you... What else you got before we jump in with Matt?
[0:43:29] Landy @CryptoLandy: 21. 21.
[0:43:32] Dave @DCBK2LA: 21.
[0:43:34] Landy @CryptoLandy: Let's talk about Cantor Fitzgerald for a moment, alpha gamer.
[0:43:37] Dave @DCBK2LA: No. No. No. We're not gonna do that. You did this yesterday. We're we're good. We're covered this yesterday. Come on. Stop it now.
[0:43:42] Landy @CryptoLandy: It's the sailor model. It's it's an evolved sailor model. Just so you know, that's what it is.
[0:43:47] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. Yeah. We covered need to know. Yeah. No. No. We covered... No. No. A 100%. Gamer, stop trying to instigate, bro. I wasn't fucking saying anything. Thank you, Lindsay.
[0:43:55] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: What? I didn't even say anything, bro.
[0:43:56] Dave @DCBK2LA: Instigatory, if that's even a fucking word. It's unbelievable.
[0:44:01] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: I can't even laugh on this. Exactly. Jesus.
[0:44:04] Dave @DCBK2LA: Day in the bay. Seventeen minutes late. Anyways, Matt, what is good, bro? Give us the low low. Give us an intro. Introduce yourself to the ATC crowd. What is Thrive? Let's go.
[0:44:15] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Yeah. Thanks again for having me. I really do appreciate this. I love the energy in the space. You guys are all super fun, and I like to have fun. So it's a perfect,
[0:44:23] Dave @DCBK2LA: the perfect
[0:44:24] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: spot. And what else do I wanna say? I wanna say that I woke up at 04:15 this morning lit, ready to go. I got up, worked out, came home, showered. I've been on builder calls all day, all day. I don't stop talking about Thrive, but, well, we'll do it for another, another few minutes.
[0:44:44] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: When you say...
[0:44:45] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Go ahead. Go When
[0:44:46] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: you say you woke up at 4AM for wake and bake and you were
[0:44:49] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: lit It was not. That early? No wake. No. Wake and bake, my friend. I was lit on life. I was lit on life.
[0:44:56] Dave @DCBK2LA: And... Oh, different kind of lit. Okay. Got it.
[0:44:59] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: I should've live. Alright. I'm getting there.
[0:45:02] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: I'm getting there.
[0:45:02] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: So, yeah. So so, top ecosystems like Polygon, Arbitrum, Acorn, Hedera, Zion, etcetera, they they partner with Thrive and allocate part of their treasury to us. And then we go, and find and fund impactful projects to go launch and scale, on their chains. And, like, there's... I'll talk about sort of, like, the benefit of it from the ecosystem standpoint, but then also from the the project standpoint afterwards because we do consider ourselves a builder protocol. That's what's most important to us. But ecosystems, if you think about it, like, they have these vast treasuries, that they have to spend to build their community. But if they spend it poorly, then they kill their community. They kill their token. I call it the DAO death spiral. I've seen it. I've been in crypto for so long. I've seen so many DAOs come and go. Like, they launched. They've got this great token, $100,000,000 in their... In the... Of tokens in their treasury, and they just bury it behind red tape or spend it on things that don't create any value, and they just kill kill their community. Well, ecosystems are are really, like, savvy to that now. Like, they know, and and they're actually... The way that I sort of look at it is they're a bit gun shy, because they know they have to be really judicious with how they spend it. And the hard part is, that they they... The... Like, the most difficult part of it is is is actually, being able to verify that value is created, at scale. Like, if you think about it in terms of, like, a a grants program. Right? If a if a ecosystem spins up, I don't know, a $100,000 grants or or grants program, they they talk to, I don't know, 10 or 15 builders, shortlist a couple of them, babysit them through the milestones, etcetera, they can do that. Like, that doesn't take too much, human power. But if you're trying to allocate millions of dollars per month or per quarter, it's it's, like, super hard to do. How do you validate that value has actually been created at that type of scale? And it's... At the scale that, you know, we're talking about, some of these ecosystems have billion dollars or something. So, so that's really difficult for for them to do, and that's what Thrive does very well. So not only, like, do we have a great tech stack and the know how to be able to deploy this capital in an efficient way, we also have an... Decentralized reviewer network of badged reviewers who look at everything that goes through Thrive, whether it's a, like, grants milestone. We even have an incentives app that will do community engagement type stuff like a questing platform. But the difference is everything that gets submitted through Thrive goes to this decentralized reviewer network. The reviewers take a look at it, and a consensus of them has to agree that it created value. So if it... Like, I'll just give it... Give you examples. Like, for a milestone, for grants, maybe milestone one is deploy on an ecosystem like Polygon, deployment on on Polygon. Well, the project has to prove that they did that and submit it, and then our decentralized reviewers take a look. And if the proof is there, thumbs up, and the next tranche of funding goes out. But if they don't, you know, if they can't prove it, then then it... Then funding doesn't go out. And and it's just... It... No matter what it is, it could be a... Like I said, it could be a small incentives. You know, we... For, like, a Thrive Hedera season one, we did a lot of... They haven't got... Hedera's got some great apps, launched in their ecosystem. So they wanted to get a lot of community members to use those apps. So we did an incentives program for them where, you know, people would go in and play with an app, and then they would get a a reward for doing it. Doesn't matter what it is. It might be a a, like, a 1 HBAR reward or a $50,000, you know, grant milestone. Doesn't matter what it is. It goes through our reviewer network, and they have to decide. They have to agree that value was created before funds get released. So so that means that we can we can run, I mean, literal... Probably hundreds of projects at the same time, you know, across many different ecosystems, and still validate that value has been created. We can do that at scale. And so when ecosystems partner with us, they know that no matter what they spend their funds on through Thrive, it's going to create a positive ROI for their their ecosystem. So, so so that's the the ecosystem side of things. And then, as I said before, we really consider ourselves a builder, protocol. And the reason why is because, where I I am and my CEO, Daniel Jacobs, is we are crypto zealots. We wanna see a a a future with crypto in it because we believe it is it is, essential for human liberty and prosperity. And the only way to get there is to make sure that impactful people and projects get funded and spammers and hypers, you know, and and civil... Civils and and spam or whatever does not get the funding. So we wanna make it super easy for great projects to get funding through Thrive. And so we're kind of a one stop solution. You come... You know, if you're a project, you come to Thrive. You talk to someone like me. You know, I I look at at your, where you are in the life cycle of your project. I look at, you know, what vertical you're in and then determine which funding options make the most sense for you. And then I send you the application. You apply. Within twenty four hours, it goes through our reviewer network just making sure it's usually... The the first one is just like a like a once over review to make sure that it's illegitimate project and the application's filled out, etcetera. Then after that, it goes to... That goes to my my ecosystem lead, which is... How it works is whenever we, launch with a... Another community, we create a board. So the Thrive Polygon board is members of Thrive and members of Polygon, and they meet weekly. And so the ecosystem lead then takes the app to that board and decide, basically, within seven to ten days or so on whether or not to fund. And if fund... You know, if if the decision is to fund, usually takes another week or so beyond that to do contracts and milestones, etcetera. And then you're off to the races off to the races.
[0:51:13] Kool @koolcryptovc: Go ahead.
[0:51:14] Dave @DCBK2LA: So question. So now Yeah. Do you... So the prod... So you find the project and then you find the chain, or is it you have money from the chain and then you're specifically sourcing the project based on the chain?
[0:51:24] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Great question. Kinda both happens. Typically, what happens is is the the ecosystems fund us. And when we set up a board with them, we decide which projects they're looking for. Because each ecosystem's different. They want different things. Some want startups. Some want, you know, projects that have that have a lot of on chain traction. Some want r... Want RWA. Some want AI. Some want meme points. It it just... They're all just different. And so we figure out which types of projects that they're looking for, and then we go out and find them. But on the flip side, when you're a project and you're in the Thrive community, we keep sending you funding opportunities based on where you're at. So based on, like I said, your life cycle, where you're on the life cycle of your project, and, you know, what vertical you're in. So we literally will keep sending you funding options, and you can choose whether or not you wanna apply for them until you tell us to stop, then we won't do it anymore. But, basically, yeah, if you're in our community, we're constantly, you know, bringing in new seasons and bringing in new new partnerships. So within weeks, like, our funding options kind of are changed. So, yeah, that... That's pretty much how it works.
[0:52:30] Dave @DCBK2LA: This is super interesting. Really... So now... Well, I guess, how... What is your guys' background? Like, you and the CEO, Dan... Like, what is the background to be able to walk in and be like, hey. Trust us with your treasury. Like, who the hell are you guys? You know what I mean? Like...
[0:52:44] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Right. No. That's Dan... Yeah, Daniel. So I... Technically, I'm I'm head of content. Although, we have so much capital allocated to us right now, it's somewhere close to a $158,000,000. And just to kinda give you a perspective of scale, like, first year was 1,000,000... Our first community was was eight point, and they allocated a million to us, and we thought that was a big deal because it was. Second year, 12,000,000. Third year, 70,000,000. We're already at a 100... Close to one fifty. It's hard to tell because the new deals that are happening right now are pre token launched communities. So pre TGE communities who know they're gonna have a treasury and don't know what they're gonna do with it, so they partner with Thrive and then, you know, and and basically say, okay. We'll commit 10, you know, 10% of FTV to to Thrive for for allocation. So it's got... We don't really know the exact numbers until the... All those, projects launch, but it's somewhere approaching a 150,000,000. So because of that, it's kind of all all hands on deck finding great projects now. Like, before when it was when I first started, we were at something like 30 something million, and I could do a space and, you know, and and, an email and and, like, a blog post or whatever, I get a 100 applications in. But we have so much capital at this point that we can't do it. So I spend a lot of my time talking to builders and and helping them through the application process. I literally... It's literally a sales process for me now. I am cold messaging people on Telegram, through email, on Twitter, or whatever saying, hey. You wanna get funded? Which is crazy because on one hand, it's like a weird sales process, but on the other hand, I'm giving them money. It's it's crazy.
[0:54:19] Dave @DCBK2LA: That is wild. It's like And you're literally saying, like Wow. For anyone that's out here that's just like, oh, there's no money in web three. There's no money in this. It's just like, maybe give us some more color. So it's like, are you, like, are you hiring... Like, is it projects where it's, like, mostly devs? Like, are you going, like, hackathons and finding those guys? Like, who... Like, what types of projects are you funding, and what... Like, what are the check amounts?
[0:54:40] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Yeah. It is all different types of projects. It really depends on the ecosystem because they're the ones who... I mean, we
[0:54:48] Dave @DCBK2LA: help them, but they're the
[0:54:49] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: ones who determine what they're looking for. So to give you an example, our last season of Thrive Metis, which ended a few months ago, it was all start ups. They wanted to fund a bunch of great ideas who, you know, maybe had an MVP, good business plan, or whatever, who would launch on Metis as their first chain and and grow with the ecosystem. And we funded probably four... I think it was 40 something start ups to other ecosystems who are, you know, much more... Much larger, like Polygon's a great example. So Polygon and Arbitrum, big... Like, bigger, kinda more more entrenched. You know, they... They're looking for more projects who have a bit more traction. Right? Like, they wanna... And so they... What they would target is is, like, projects that they don't have a ton of. And so it might be, like I said before, RWA or or AI or something. But it's a lot... It's pretty much everything. I mean, there were there were even... Like, through our our, our initiative with Arbitrum, we funded communities like Shifi. Shifi is a is a community that onboards women into web three. We funded we funded Shifi. We funded media groups like PewCast, etcetera. Just really is determined by, by the ecosystems that we partner with. And they're all different, which is a cool thing. Like, it's a very cool perspective to have. Like I said, I I... I'm head of content, so I would do, like, all the launches for these for for these, for our seasons with the... With these communities. And so I get a real firsthand look at the difference. Like, ApeCoin is way different than Hedera, which is way different than Polygon. It's super cool. They all want different stuff. So, really, if you are a project in Web three, you should DM me, and I will help you figure out where... So,
[0:56:31] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: sounds it sounds to me like you have a a lot of good experience and exposure to a lot of different chains and projects and everything. So I just gotta ask you a question real quick. Have you ever had In N Out Burger before?
[0:56:46] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: I have had In N Out Burger.
[0:56:49] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: So so my question would be to you, if you were to go to In N Out Burger, which crypto would be good for... To use as payments at In N Out Burger? Which one would you pick?
[0:57:02] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Listen. I can't pick favorites. You know what'll happen if I pick favorites? It'll get back to those ecosystems. It's like people ask me all the time, oh, what are some great projects that you funded? I'm like, jeez. If I if I say something, then other projects are gonna come to me, and they're gonna say, why'd you pick that one and not me? They're gonna be so ticked at me.
[0:57:17] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Oh, okay. Because I threw up on the Jumbotron here, and that's exactly what's happening. If you look up top, In N Out Burger just tweeted, you know, which crypto should they accept
[0:57:27] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Oh, wow.
[0:57:27] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: For payments. So that's why I wanted to get your take on that, you know, and, like, what... You know, because which would... You know, XRP, HBAR. Yeah. You know, which one would you use to pay for that double double?
[0:57:40] Dave @DCBK2LA: Don't wait don't waste your DTC on this fucking dollar burgers. Yeah. Yeah.
[0:57:45] Landy @CryptoLandy: There's only one right answer, alpha gamer, and it's USDH, the only Bitcoin native Bitcoin backed stablecoin in the...
[0:57:52] Dave @DCBK2LA: When did these fucking process. What's going on?
[0:57:54] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Wow. Yeah. You go, Landy. Tell them.
[0:57:59] Dave @DCBK2LA: So so we... So so so, Matt, quick... So quick question now. So... Because, Landy, it's funny because you just brought something up. Right? If you see that there's an ecosystem... So now you have... Let's say... Oh, alright. You have a mandate. Right? Like, from... Like, guess, how do you structure these things? Right? So if you say you funded 40 different companies... And by the way, if you funded media, I'm I'm already in your DM, so we're definitely gonna talk.
[0:58:20] Landy @CryptoLandy: I love it.
[0:58:21] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. Like, what's the baseline? Like, what's what's the criteria for funding? And I know it's obviously gonna vary, but is there a minimum amount like that? Like, do they have to have an MVP? Does it, like, range? Like, what's the deal?
[0:58:32] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: It really depends. So as I mentioned with Thrive Metis, they didn't have to have a... An... I don't think they had to have an they might have had to have some prototype, but it didn't have to be launched. Like, it didn't have to be on a on a test net or anything. But it it depends. Like, through Arbitrum, we funded a bunch of infrastructure projects too. You know, it wasn't... It's not they weren't getting, like, a bunch of on chain data or anything. It just... It really does depend on the ecosystem. But I will say most of them right now are looking for impact. That's the biggest thing. And so, you know, kinda gone are the days. We really... Thrive does really well in bear markets actually because that's when these ecosystems really tighten down, and and they really... You know, they wanna fund things that that create impact. And so, you know, we we can kinda show... We can definitely show that that
[0:59:20] Dave @DCBK2LA: they do. Can you define the impact?
[0:59:23] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Sure. It... On chain is the easiest way. So it could be daily active users. It could be TVL. It could be transaction volume. It could be it could be even revenue. And act... And so revenue... So... Okay. So here's another example. So those are the easy ones to verify. But, like, through our our last season of of... We call... Usually, we call our our partnerships Thrive, and then the name of the partnerships are, like, Thrive, Hedera, whatever. But because we were... We've been with ApeCoin for so long, it was actually ThankApe. So our last season of ThankApe was all BBAC, which was built by ApeCoin. And those are all businesses. Those are all retail businesses and service businesses that, because that, Acorn sort of released its IP too, you could create, like, you know, Acorn themed alcohol and clothing lines and home furnishings and all sorts of stuff. So it really is very much ecosystem specific. And in that type of... You know, in that situation, they would look for impact, meaning, you know, did you create revenue? Did you bring revenue back to the DAO, etcetera? But like I said, it could be... It really could be kind of anything.
[1:00:37] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yes. And do you incubate them? Like, when you give them the money now, like, how... Like, do you... And and I'll turn it over to everybody else here I know, and then we could talk about some Kaito stuff and figure out, like, what you guys are doing there. But do you incubate them? Like, do you... Like, how do you nurture them? Like, when you cut them to check, then what happens?
[1:00:54] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Great question. So the milestones are set up with goals that they're... You know, that that they need to achieve. And so, usually, what happens is if it's like a... An an app, then the first milestone would be to launch on that chain. Right? So it'd be, like, launch on Polygon. And then after that, just depending on what impact metric makes sense for the project, like I said, it could be TVL. It could be revenue. It could be transaction volume, whatever. Usually, the the subsequent milestones have to do with expanding that. So, like, okay. You have a 100,000 TBL. We'll get to 500,000 TBL, that type of thing. And how we can... We can support them in a few different ways. First of all, like, you get marketing support through Thrive and through the ecosystem that we partner with. So we do spaces and live streams and demo day competitions and articles about our build. You can go down. In in fact, if you're not following at Thrive Protocol, please make sure you are, everybody in the audience. But just scroll down, you can see, like, we do features on our our builders, etcetera. So we help promote them that way, but then also the ecosystems as well. It's a great story if a project that they funded is doing well, so they they definitely wanna promote it. So we can help on that front. And then, also, part of the funding can go towards, towards scaling. So that could be marketing. That could be incentives. You can... They can even use the Thrive Incentives app to get more people to use their app in some way. There's a variety of ways that, that they can do it.
[1:02:29] Dave @DCBK2LA: Super interesting, man. Yeah. I have so many quest... Are are AI agents are AI agents, like, a big thing of what you're looking to fund now, like, in terms of, like, a lot of, like, either protocols or companies or or or teams, founders that are building with AI?
[1:02:44] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: AI is big right now. I mean, it's gonna be big for a long, long time. Right? So... Yeah. I mean, I'm... I am seeing a lot of applications come in that are that are anything. Like like, wallets with AI integration or just swap, exchanges or or swapping using AI agents to find the best, the best pairs, the best cost, like, all sorts of stuff. Even gaming with AI, tons of tons of that. Yeah. It's... I think it's probably a part... Usually, happens, like, if you go to the... Like, our our applications, you get to see the verticals, the the suggested verticals. I mean, the the... We'll go beyond the suggested verticals, but I think AI is in every single one of them.
[1:03:25] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. Super... Dude, I have so many... We definitely... I I I don't wanna hog this up because I'm I'm sure everybody else has has a bunch of questions, but
[1:03:32] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: I don't see hands. You can ask us what... Whatever you want.
[1:03:35] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. Let's go. Coma, go for it, man. I don't... I feel like I'm hogging it up because you know me, guys. Like, I could literally ask a bazillion to one question. My mind is just, forget it. So, Koma, go for it.
[1:03:45] Kkoma @itskkoma: Yeah. Matt, I'm gonna throw you some softballs because I feel like the... I know a lot... I already know a lot of the answers, but, you know, maybe you could go into, like, how how someone can contribute to the Thrive ecosystem. Like, I know there's builders, citizen, guardian. It'll be cool to just kinda explain each one, and then I'll have another question afterwards.
[1:04:03] Dave @DCBK2LA: But, yeah, that... I think that would be helpful because
[1:04:05] Kkoma @itskkoma: I I know people want to do something, but maybe they don't know how yet.
[1:04:09] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Yeah. Thank you for asking that. So I mentioned before the reviewer network. Well, those decentralized reviewers, we actually call them guardians because they literally are guarding the sanctity of the treasuries, you know, of the ecosystems that we partner with. And how that works is, you can apply to be a Guardian, Thrive Guardian. There are... There's criteria around what it would take in order for you to become a Guardian. And when you apply for it, it actually goes, your your application gets submitted to our current guardians who then approve or or deny you based on whether or not you hit certain criteria. And then if you are approved, you get batched, and it's in one of, five expertises. So it's, you know, it's either code or finance or content, or data. This... What's the other one? Governance. So you get badged as a as a Thrive, guardian in one of those expertises. And then what happens is you use our reviewer app, and everything that gets submitted, if it makes sense for your expertise, it goes to you, and you are... You're determining, you know, whether or not funding is gonna get released for for either projects or for people who are participating in the incentives app. So it's a... It's like a a a completely a completely new job description in crypto. Never, like, never been there before. And it's a... It's it's it's very wild because it's an it's an experiment. Right? It's centralized group. The only power we really over them is kind of in the in the in the beginning when we create the parameters with which they should be approved. I mean, we can eject bad guardians as well, but they literally are kind of on their own. It's spooky. It's not approving these things. But I I am... I mean, I participate too. I'm a guardian. Like, I love to do reviews. I see project applications. I see content pieces, whatever. And, yeah, it's like you you just become this little sleuth looking through it and say, wait. Did they do this thing? Did they... You know? And and, yes, thumbs up, then, damn, they get funded. It's it's a it's a very fun fun role. So there's that. And then the other way that you can participate in Thrive is we... Different ecosystems want different things, like I mentioned, and some ecosystems are really keen on doing incentives, community incentives. I mentioned Hedera was one of them in our first season. That... That's all it was. There was a bunch of HBAR for people to come and use, like, the really cool apps that are in in Hedera, but also thank ape. So in our initiative with ApeCoin, there tends to be a lot of activities that people can do. It could be play with apps. It could be write content pieces. It could be host spaces, tons of different stuff that you can get rewarded in the native currency of the ecosystem that we partner with. That was an important thing I should have mentioned before. But, and... But, also, we sort of have this... We have a unifying, a unifying, like, almost reputation, counter called ThrivePoints that we give to people who do different things in in the the, like, the the Thrive community. Since we since we have, like, all these ecosystems that we partner with, it's very bifurcated. You know what I mean? Like, our our our our ecosystem has all these tentacles, and so we needed this kind of unifying, idea, to show, like, how much impact you've had in the Thrive ecosystem itself, and those are Thrive points. And you can earn Thrive points by doing things like doing reviews or hosting spaces or doing content. There's a bunch of different things. So Wait. Wait. Wait, Matt.
[1:07:48] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Matt, so you're saying we can get rewarded for doing the thing that we've already been doing?
[1:07:55] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: That's exactly right. In fact, hosting the space probably gets you, I think, 5,000 drive points. I don't know. Something like that.
[1:08:00] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: What is this? Dave. Dave, how come you didn't tell us about it? We... We've been doing this free this whole time.
[1:08:07] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: He he wanted to keep it for himself.
[1:08:10] Dave @DCBK2LA: Oh my god. I wish. I'm the guardian of the galaxy, bitches. No. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. No. No. Like, dude, dude, that would be incredible, bro. Yeah. By the
[1:08:19] Kkoma @itskkoma: way, Matt, I'm here pretty much every day on this space too, so I could use those drive points as well.
[1:08:24] Landy @CryptoLandy: You know what I'm saying?
[1:08:25] Dave @DCBK2LA: Remember me. We've been up here this whole time. Just what do I do with the drive points, though? Yeah. What do I what do I do with the Thrive Points, Matt? What do I with I got points coming out the ears on every freaking chain. What do I do with the points?
[1:08:37] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Well, I mean, people typically understand what points, you know, mean in in a crypto ecosystem. I mean, right now...
[1:08:42] Dave @DCBK2LA: That's all you gotta say. That's all you gotta say. I'm good. You're good. You're good. You're good. Just making sure. Alright. Let's transition. You know? I'm good at what I do. I gotta follow-up. I gotta I gotta follow-up, Dave. Is that okay? Yeah. Of course. Go. Go.
[1:08:55] Kkoma @itskkoma: Yeah. So now that now that we talked about Thrive, know, there is the elephant in the room. Like, I think for me and Cole specifically, maybe even Dave now, it's a... We see Thrive protocol on, you know, Kaido. And your boy here is, like, think, what am I, like, ranked 15 or something? 14 on the 30 day? So I just wanna know, like, what's what's up with Drive protocol and Kaido? Spill the team one...
[1:09:20] Dave @DCBK2LA: Hey. Call me. You get one flex a show. Okay? Like, you can't Okay.
[1:09:23] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Sorry. Sorry.
[1:09:25] Kkoma @itskkoma: I'm very bullish on Thrive, first of all, so that's why I talk about them. It's not because of a leaderboard.
[1:09:30] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Oh, now he's talking about them. Oh, I see.
[1:09:34] Dave @DCBK2LA: No. No, dude.
[1:09:35] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: No. We're close. We're close....
[1:09:37] Kkoma @itskkoma: Like a month ago.
[1:09:38] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Totally. No. I remember. Yeah. No. We're close. No. We have a lot of great supporters. There's a lot of of folks who really participate in Thrive, and it's so helpful for us because we legitimately want to fund impactful projects, and we're just trying to get the word out as much as possible. We have all this capital. We're trying to fund people. And it... Literally, it's the hardest part right now. It's not hard for ecosystems to sign up with Thrive anymore. It's not hard because they understand. Like, they know... We have just... So we funded 1,800 projects so far. You know, we've been doing this for three and a half years. Like, main ecosystems know what the impact that they're gonna get. Really, the hard part is finding enough impactful projects to fund. So I'll say it again. DM me. If you're a builder in crypto, DM me. Or if you know anybody who is and you're looking for funding, nondilutive. Right? We don't take any equity. No fees. You know, come come to me directly, and and I'll help you get funded. But but just to answer the Kaido thing, so it's funny because I really am... I... It's... But I've been doing a lot of the marketing for Thrive. I've been with Thrive for a a year plus now, and I've been doing a lot of the marketing. But I've... I'm not really doing that anymore. I'm... I am... Because, like, our biggest need was to find great builders, and I've spent so much time talking about Thrive that I'm good I'm good at it. So I'm really... A really good place for me is talking to builders. So I am... Like, I'm talking to, I don't know, 30 builders a week on calls trying to get them funded. So so, anyway, long story short is I'm not really participating in the Kaido stuff. I know what the trajectory is, and I would say that something's coming, but I don't know when it will be announced yet. So just stay tuned.
[1:11:21] Dave @DCBK2LA: You're very well trained in PR as well. Let me go for it.
[1:11:28] Landy @CryptoLandy: Oh, man. Well, I've I've been aware of Thrive, and I looked into it in in... I guess, the first question I I had was, okay. So I'm a builder. I get funded. And where is... You know, there's... If there's no equity and there's no... Where's the hook?
[1:11:53] Dave @DCBK2LA: How you making money, maybe? How you making money? Yeah.
[1:11:55] Landy @CryptoLandy: How you
[1:11:57] Dave @DCBK2LA: it's like it's like it's
[1:11:58] Landy @CryptoLandy: like asking a protocol, like, hey. We're a yield generating protocol, and then you ask where's the yield. It's kinda like where I'm at. You know?
[1:12:07] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: That's a great question. And I'm sorry I didn't cover that in in in, you know, in my fur... When I was talking about it before, did you know... And I wanna start with this little anecdote. Did you know that there are less than 350 revenue positive projects in crypto? That blew my mind. I found that out a couple day... A couple weeks ago. I looked into it less than 350. That's crazy. If Thrive were on that
[1:12:33] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: list because we're not deployed, we
[1:12:34] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: don't have a token, we would be top 40, top 50. The reason why we're revenue positive is because ecosystems have this problem that they can't solve on their own, so they pay us to go and find great projects to deploy on their chains. They pay us. So that's why, yeah, projects don't need to. Like I said, no equity, no fees, nothing. The ecosystems cover it.
[1:12:59] Dave @DCBK2LA: Matt, I'm gonna need you to backdate all these points. I'm gonna send you a whole list of the spaces that we've been running here because ATC has been running at least almost, like, a year now. I got another one that's been running two years. You know, do you backdate?
[1:13:13] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Nope. For you, I will, Dave.
[1:13:15] Dave @DCBK2LA: That's what I'm talking about.
[1:13:17] Landy @CryptoLandy: You see? Hey. Hey. Special treatment over here.
[1:13:21] Dave @DCBK2LA: Elite.
[1:13:21] Landy @CryptoLandy: I am... Yeah. That is elite, bro. Holy crap. Yeah. So as a non builder, complete dolt when it comes to actually trying to, you know, code anything or create anything of value outside of content, You know, what you guys are looking for projects that are rebuilding on chain. Right? So, like, that's where... How far along does a project have to be? Like, do they have to be, a concept? Like, does it have to be... Is it something that could be already built or or already working product, MVP? Like, what stages do you look for?
[1:14:02] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Yeah. All stages depending on the ecosystem. So it could be a startup. It could be something that's got... Like, we've funded projects that have a 100,000,000, you know, TDL. So it just depends on the ecosystems, really, and and the... And what their wants and needs are, what they think will be most valuable for their community. Some are way more flexible. Like, Arbitrum is a great example of that where they want... They did a lot of, like, community listening and surveying and all sorts of stuff funded through Thrive. They did a bunch of community building through Thrive, all these different community... These community initiatives. I mentioned g five before. They did a bunch of infrastructure projects that they wanted to fund through Thrive. So, you know, it just sort of depends. Right now, I think because, like, the market is so uncertain and so weird, they're... The... I'd say the ecosystems are a little bit more conservative with what's going on. So they their preference right now, the ones that that that that have open initiatives with us, they're looking for on chain metrics. So they're looking for on chain impact, but that just changes, like, all the time because every few weeks or less, we haven't... Like, we're in we're in between seasons on Thrive Medicine, Thrive Boba, and Thank Ape, but those are all slated to come back within the next week or two. And then we've got other projects I mentioned... I think I mentioned... Yeah. I did. I mentioned before that, like, pre TGE projects that are gonna launch a token, and then we'll have part of their treasury managed by Thrive. Those are coming out in the next, I don't know, four, five, six weeks. So it kind of always changes. It's very amorphous, which is why it's important if you're a project coming to Thrive. Talk to me. You know, I'll I'll know, you know, where... What type of vertical you are, where you are in the life cycle of your projects. And then once you're in, I can just keep sending or we can just keep sending you funding opportunities that that come out that make the most sense for you.
[1:16:02] Dave @DCBK2LA: So, realistically That's awesome. Sorry, Landy. My fault.
[1:16:06] Landy @CryptoLandy: Oh, no. No. No. Go ahead. I I just wanted to say that that's awesome.
[1:16:10] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. This is good stuff. So... Wait. Matt, you didn't answer the question I asked before about, like, what's the smallest check you cut? And, like, what's the... I know you said companies that didn't really have a working product or, like... Because I'm thinking, like, selfishly. Right? Like, I I think about what I do, what what some of us do here. Right? Like...
[1:16:28] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Just come out and say it, Dave. Just come out and say it say it with your chest.
[1:16:33] Dave @DCBK2LA: What you mean, bro? Like, I'm... Say it. Believe you me. There's a method to I need to feel it out first, bro.
[1:16:37] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: I'll say it for you. I am now a thrive whale, Matt. How much am I gonna get paid? That... That's that's not... Just say
[1:16:44] Dave @DCBK2LA: it. No. No. No, bro. I am not a Thrive whale. I'm trying to get a check from Thrive, not from the airdrop, bro. Chill.
[1:16:50] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Oh, okay. Okay.
[1:16:52] Dave @DCBK2LA: You're messing up my game, bro. Chill out. No. But, Matt, seriously, like, what, like, what's the look... Because I'm thinking... And and I'm not that, like, I don't value what I do, but I just look at it compared to everything else, and it's not it's not necessarily... You can't track what we do on chain. Right? Like, it's really hard unless I told you we was... We should have started with the POAPs, guys. I fucking knew it. But, like, you get what I'm saying? Like, how does someone like me or or us up here, right, that are in the content creation game that are out here educating, and we're trying to do it, like, genuinely the right way. We're not telling people what the fuck to buy. Like, it's real, honest, like, news that's coming to people and just market insight. How do we get funded?
[1:17:33] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Yeah. That's a good question. I mean, in the past, how it's worked with media groups is they've gotten grants for doing, like, videos of the projects that are getting funded through Thrive, like, making content out of that. Right now, I... Like, none of our ecosystems are... Have that type of, like, marketing grant campaign,
[1:17:53] Dave @DCBK2LA: but
[1:17:53] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: they but they do happen. Like, Hedera was the last one. The fans, season one Thrive Hedera, which closed a couple months ago, we... There there was budget for our marketing, so we did some stuff around that. But, yeah, that's that's how it would work. It's like a media group who does things around the projects that are being funded.
[1:18:11] Dave @DCBK2LA: Okay. I have I have an idea. I'm gonna hit you in the DMs because I think I can I love it? I can. Yeah. It'll spread across all the different ecosystems. So, yeah, we're we're gonna be multi multi platform.
[1:18:21] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Yeah. But you also... You asked me another question. So, check size. So, typically, the range that I'm seeing... The the normal range is 25 k to a 100 k. That's kind of the normal range. 25 k, obviously, if it's a start up, that's a riskier move. And so projects are gonna... Or or ecosystems are gonna, you know, spend less on those types of of, of projects. Right? But if it's a well established, you know, project that's gonna redeploy on another ecosystem, it could be a 100 k. Could could even be more. I've seen more, but typically, the range is 25 to to a 100.
[1:18:55] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Oh, well, in that case, Dave's not gonna be interested because that's only 25 to a 100.
[1:19:02] Kool @koolcryptovc: I mean...
[1:19:03] Dave @DCBK2LA: We might
[1:19:03] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: have to look for another project there.
[1:19:05] Dave @DCBK2LA: No. Listen, gamer. At the end of the day, Arbitrum is not gonna miss 25. You know what I'm saying? Like, they are not, like... I mean, really? 25 k out of 20,000,000.
[1:19:14] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: He said he said it's only 25 k, Dave. That's... You know, you're you're looking for the bigger stuff. Right? That's what you told me about it.
[1:19:20] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Poo poo 25 k. I didn't mean to poo poo that.
[1:19:23] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yo, Matt. Don't listen to anything this funny up here is saying. Okay? It's nothing but fun. All these rich dudes... Okay. Don't don't make no mistake. All these dudes up here are rich except me. I'm the only poor one up here. Even the dude with the purple hair. Rich. All of them. Everyone on Metabee's got some holes in his socks like me too, but whatever. Other than us two... What?
[1:19:44] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: No one has been rugged harder than me. I was hit in the parody multisig wallet hack of 2017, which sold 40 something thousand ETH from our treasury.
[1:19:54] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. Bro, you
[1:19:55] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: were in that.... Been rushed harder than me. You were in that? A real bet?
[1:19:58] Landy @CryptoLandy: Yeah.
[1:19:59] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Yes. Swarm City was my... God. I remember I was was part of the ninth ever ICO, Swarm City. We got... We were the first to get hit. We alerted the the Ethereum Foundation and our white hat hacker friends who then went through... Because that was that was the that was the move at the time. That was industry standard to use these wallets, these parity multistig wallets. So the white hat hackers came in, drained all the funds for everybody else who was... Every... All the other projects that were using... Used the same exploit to drain drain all the funds, save probably billions of dollars, fix the exploit, put it all back in, but it was too late for us. We got nailed. Nailed.
[1:20:38] Dave @DCBK2LA: And they can let you be a... Hold on. They can let you be a guardian on Thrive, even after that whole thing.
[1:20:43] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: It's not my fault.
[1:20:45] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. It's crazy. I'm a you, man. I'm playing. I'm playing.
[1:20:47] Landy @CryptoLandy: I I was I was watching that happen and, my god, I just... My heart sank when you said that. Holy crap. Dude. Those of you that have been around since the early days Yeah. As well. Those are kinda middays now.
[1:21:01] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: The The craziest thing
[1:21:03] Landy @CryptoLandy: forget where we're at.
[1:21:05] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: The craziest thing is I get a mess... Because I did all the crisis comms for it. Like, I was being interviewed. I wrote the fucking articles, the blog posts about it. And, so I get a message from, like, the CMO at Parity saying, sorry, Matt. I was like, we're sorry.
[1:21:21] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Thanks. Wow. That was good.
[1:21:22] Dave @DCBK2LA: Just just... Sorry. Sorry.
[1:21:26] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Sorry. It's only, you know, $50,000,000 now. Sorry. Well, see, now you're talking numbers that...
[1:21:32] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Actually, now you're talking numbers that Dave can appreciate. Right?
[1:21:35] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: That's right. I'm
[1:21:36] Dave @DCBK2LA: I'm two seconds. Cool. I'm two seconds from kicking gamer off this damn stage. Literally two seconds. Wait. So, Matt, talk us like... So how do you guys actually use... Obviously, like, we saw you guys on the leaderboard. And... Wait. Did you did you tell us the formula for the for the the airdrop or the TGE? What what was it again?
[1:21:55] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: What? No. Thou I did not, nor would I say.
[1:21:59] Dave @DCBK2LA: I try. I try. I try.
[1:22:00] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: You did try.
[1:22:01] Landy @CryptoLandy: Leo, how do you kick how do you kick the host off the stage, bro?
[1:22:04] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Right? Crazy?
[1:22:06] Dave @DCBK2LA: Is what talking I'm about
[1:22:07] Landy @CryptoLandy: neighbor now?
[1:22:08] Dave @DCBK2LA: You hear cool? Cool's letting me cook. Alright? Let me cook out here. No. But, Matt, so now, obviously, like, you guys were on the Kai Told leaderboard. Like, what did you guys actually genuinely, like, use it for? Like, because I assuming because I assume, like like, understanding what it is that you do, that's gotta be a treasure trove of, like, different, like, different, like, projects. Like, did you guys go, like... I mean, it sounds like you... You're perfect for using Kaito. Correct?
[1:22:31] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Yeah. I think it's a really great partnership, actually. Like, we're in a Telegram chat with all their devs and stuff. They're they're they're super cool. Like, it's right up our right up our alley because, yeah, it's a way to show impact, you know, that's not as hype y as just, like, likes and retweets. It's so easy to manipulate numbers on social media, on Twitter. It really is. Like, you just... There's always Discord groups now where people just deploy all these symbols and and pump their, you know, pump their interactions. And it's not true where Kaido sort of cuts through that noise. And, I mean, their algorithm is not perfect, but but it's pretty cool how it works to identify, you know, those who are creating the most value around around content, you know, on specific... In a in a specific context. So I think it's it's a it's a great it's a great partnership for us. And, yeah, there... There's something in the works, but I'm not gonna announce that. You can't give
[1:23:32] Kkoma @itskkoma: me twenty seconds.... Identify anyone
[1:23:33] Dave @DCBK2LA: in this... Somebody else.... That is... That... All could do the same thing.... Makes an announcement of another announcement, I'm gonna literally lose my mind. I was asked. Announcements. Everybody, please go tell your friends of all the leading edge protocols if they wanna come on ATC. This is the place to announce an announcement, and then go someplace else and make the real announcement. I feel so you
[1:23:58] Landy @CryptoLandy: You literally you literally don't wanna ask to.
[1:24:02] Dave @DCBK2LA: Bro, every fucking space. What is going on? This is crazy talk. It's like, yeah. You know what? There's something monstrous coming, but not... Can't...
[1:24:12] Landy @CryptoLandy: They went fishing and...
[1:24:13] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: I'm just a low... I'm just a lowly grunt at Thrive. You know, I have no power whatsoever. There... This is way above my pay grade. You got you got the grunts.
[1:24:22] Dave @DCBK2LA: We'll let it slide for 25,000. Yeah. Sorry.
[1:24:27] Dave @DCBK2LA: Go ahead, Coma. No. No. I mean, I was gonna say... No. I I
[1:24:32] Kkoma @itskkoma: I can't finish I can't finish my question anymore. Let's let's let's move on.
[1:24:38] Dave @DCBK2LA: Goddamn it. Fucking a. No. Matt Matt, this has been super insightful, bro. Like, anything else that maybe, like, we didn't ask... I mean, I could've I could've literally asked you questions for another hour, and I'd really love for you to kinda come back at some point. But anything that maybe for somebody that's listening now or maybe something that might not have asked that you think is super pertinent for, you know, us up here and and and the listeners either here now or that are gonna go back and listen to the replay that you want them to know?
[1:25:03] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: I would just say that, you know, Thrive is really a builder protocol. It is. And and just to just to, like, really highlight that, if you go straight to an ecosystem, it can take you four or five months to get funded. And it's and it's not easy. You gotta figure out what their grant mechanism is. Maybe it's a work stream. Maybe it's, you know, maybe it's delegates you gotta cozy up to. You have to be a marketer. You gotta be a politician, and you just wanna build. Whereas if you come to Thrive, it's a few weeks of process. It's not months process, and you'll know. And and and I would just, like, you know, leave you with please follow at Thrive Protocol on on on Twitter, and please, you know, come to me directly, and I will help you get funded. Or or if you if you have builder friends, send them to me. We really do... We... Our success is being able to deploy capital. It's being able to give people money. It's a ridiculous job to have, but it's true. And we fail if we don't do it. So please, you know, send me your builders so I can get them funded. I think that's it. Dave, thanks so much. I mean, it's been super fun. You guys are a riot.
[1:26:10] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah, man. For sure, man. I appreciate you coming through, though, for real. And look. It might... Whether it's us or anybody in here, like, I know there's a lot of us up here that are super... Like, we have... Like, we genuinely believe, like, your net worth is your network, and that is the reason why, like, all of us, like, we kind of gel the way we do. We always look to support each other. Like, I'm pushing everybody out here. So, yeah, there's definitely, like, a few referrals I can absolutely send your way and, you know, maybe we get a little cutty cut of the action. Like, I don't know, like, what kind of deals the
[1:26:38] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: structure Still trying to get that angle,
[1:26:40] Dave @DCBK2LA: Bro, shut up, gamer. What the hell, bro? Like, that's common business practice. I make a little referral. You dish out some money. Hey. Everything is good. Just give me a little... I'm from Brooklyn at the end of the day. What the hell?
[1:26:52] Kkoma @itskkoma: Dave, Dave, do you have no shame? You know? Come on, man. But, Matt, just to be clear, I am number 15 on the Kaido leaderboard.
[1:26:58] Dave @DCBK2LA: There's no way. Identify the
[1:27:00] Kkoma @itskkoma: right person for the right place. You got it right here. Just saying. Just say
[1:27:04] Dave @DCBK2LA: See this shit? He's like, dang. I have to
[1:27:05] Landy @CryptoLandy: go see like stables, coins on stacks at all? You know? Do do you happen to like Bitcoin?
[1:27:11] Dave @DCBK2LA: That's not a business model.
[1:27:13] Landy @CryptoLandy: Builders there.
[1:27:14] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Comma Comma slid right in there. That was nice.
[1:27:17] Kkoma @itskkoma: Yeah, man.
[1:27:18] Dave @DCBK2LA: I don't even know who you people are right now. I'm looking around. I don't even know who you are. Like, this is this is, like... I bring a guest, and this is how you treat. This is what you do? Everyone's just jumping over each other at a dollar?
[1:27:29] Landy @CryptoLandy: They they... We all heard that my job is to give out money. Everybody went nuts.
[1:27:35] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. Seriously. I was like, oh, man. What about me? No. Matt, seriously, like, this this was dope, dude. Like, I really appreciate you coming through, man. This was super insightful. I'm glad we got... At least got insight because at the end of the day, man, I'm gonna fucking bust my ass to try and go get some of these points now. Because if y'all say... If you're saying that you're on the number... You could be 40 on that that seldom, like, profitable profitable company list of three fifty, dude, let's go, man. I wanna see thrive. I wanna see thrive thrive. Boys, anything else you wanna say before before we close out or anything to Matt?
[1:28:10] Landy @CryptoLandy: Just say...
[1:28:12] Kkoma @itskkoma: Go ahead.
[1:28:13] Landy @CryptoLandy: I was just gonna say, Dave, cool. Thanks for bringing Matt on. It was great to meet you, Matt. This is this is really cool stuff because I I talked to a lot of people that are building across various ecosystems as I make my nomad rounds through the spaces events. But this is... These are the types of connections that that are really just learning about what it is that you're doing and and what it is that, that you have on the horizon is... This is the important stuff. And Dave and Cool, Nat Nat, I know she's not on stage, but, they're always bringing it. So really appreciate it.
[1:28:50] Dave @DCBK2LA: Last question. How many projects have you... Have you funded anything on Bitcoin?
[1:28:55] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: No. But, we do have an l two Bitcoin, projects soon to be launching. That... And I'm psyched because Bitcoin was... I encountered Bitcoin in 2013, read the white paper. A buddy of mine sent it to me, and it took me it took me, like, one or two tries to, like, figure it out. But once it did, I was like, oh, shit. This is the way. So I've been in love with Bitcoin forever. And so I can't wait to allowed to let us
[1:29:19] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: know are you allowed to let us know what that layer two is?
[1:29:22] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: I... Damn it. I can't.
[1:29:26] Dave @DCBK2LA: More announcements. I set myself up
[1:29:28] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: Oh, I'm sorry.
[1:29:29] Dave @DCBK2LA: The question.
[1:29:30] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: That's my bad. My bad.
[1:29:31] Dave @DCBK2LA: No. No. No. You're good.
[1:29:32] Matt Carano @matthewcarano: I'm sorry.
[1:29:32] Dave @DCBK2LA: I asked the question, so it's fine. But, Landy, take that freaking Hermetica badge off. Alright? I can't believe you didn't even ask that question this entire time. Give me that. You don't you don't deserve to wear that badge.
[1:29:41] Landy @CryptoLandy: Hey. Hey. Hey. Listen. Listen. I I gotta keep some things under my hat too, and I already pitched Hermetica to In N Out Burger. So
[1:29:48] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Yeah. He... To be fair, he did he did he did say for In N Out payments, he did say the Hermetica stablecoin.
[1:29:55] Dave @DCBK2LA: Yeah. He did say that. Go spend your Bitcoin back stable, yield bearing stable on $2 fucking beef... Like, get out of here, bro. Like, animal fries.
[1:30:04] Landy @CryptoLandy: Hey. Velocity of meat, bro. You gotta buy it to use it.
[1:30:07] Dave @DCBK2LA: It is not
[1:30:08] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: Woah. Woah. Woah. Are you hating on In N Out right now, Dave?
[1:30:11] Dave @DCBK2LA: You better relax.
[1:30:11] AlphaGamer @AlphaGamer_sats: You hating on the double double?
[1:30:13] Dave @DCBK2LA: What? You see what I'm gonna do? I have to... Like, I hate doing that, but that's it. I've reached my limit. Okay. I'm immune. I can't do the mute button. I hate it so much. It gives me, like, highs. Anyways, gents, good stuff. Great show. Matt, thank you. I will definitely be in your DMs. Even just to find out, like, what's what. You know what I mean? See if I have some referrals for you. Cool. Thanks. Landy, appreciate it. Gamer, my god. Koma, appreciate you. Sunny d, meta beast. Thank you, and everybody that tuned in here, man. I hope everybody has a great weekend. That's ATC for the week, and we will see y'all on Monday, man. Peace.
